The
brother of the late President John Atta Mills has been riding high on
his integrity to win the Komenda-Edna-Eguafo Abirem seat for the
governing NDC.
Samuel Atta Mills who filed his nominations
yesterday says Ghanaians can expect him to work as hard and diligently
as his brother. Speaking to party supporters after filing his
nominations, he touted how he together with his late brother was raised
in the constituency which gives him a fair idea of the needs of the
people there. “You can count on my integrity,” he told them describing
himself as a “very courageous” person who takes the “rightful decision”.
He admitted that as human, he is vulnerable and is therefore ready to
consult when the need be.
He spoke against political leaders
who spend their time on radio stations especially outside their
jurisdiction. “Being on a radio station in Accra doesn’t make you an MP
for a region, you have to be in the region, you have to be in the
district, that is where the job is,” he said.
Meanwhile, a
parliamentary aspirant for the North Tongu constituency of the Volta
region is warning of voter apathy if the party goes ahead to conduct the
November elections with its biometric register in its strongholds.
Christopher Kofi Eleblu, who has put up a strong challenge against
incumbent, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said party officials tasked to embark
on the registration exercise have failed to register majority of the
party members. Speaking to journalists soon after he filed his
nomination to contest the election, Kofi Eleblu expressed fears
disenfranchised party members would agitate against the party. |
